Joining the Choir
How do I join?
You may either write in to propontifice@yahoo.com or approach the Choral Director immediately after mass to make enquiries.
At which masses does the Choir serve?
We serve at the Sunday 10:30am High Mass at the Cathedral of the Good Shepherd. Rehearsals begin at 9am at the Father Beurel Center Annex, Level 3.
Is musical skill and/or experience necessary?
No prior musical experience or skill is necessary to join–only a willingness to learn. Many of our current members, including those who have served long in the choir, joined without any prior musical experience.
Nevertheless, we also welcome choristers with prior experience in other choirs, as well as instrumentalists proficient in any classical instrument, either of the Western or Asian tradition.
How do I audition, and what happens afterwards?
There is no formal audition. All that is required is to show up for rehearsal and undergo a simple voice test, which will determine the section you are to be placed in. You will thereafter be considered as under probation.
The attire for choristers under probation is a white formal top, black dress trousers/slacks, and black court shoes (with black socks for men).
Public engagements and recordings
How do I request the choir to sing at my wedding?
Given our commitment to serving at weekly Mass and annual concerts, we will not be able to entertain any requests to sing at weddings, funerals and other private events.
How do I purchase recordings of the choir?
Our older recordings are no longer in production, but you may purchase our Choral Director’s recordings of the Psalms for the liturgical year set to music. You may purchase them at the portico of the Cathedral of the Good Shepherd after the 10:30am Sunday High Mass or at Catholic bookstores in Singapore.
